Puppy Sales Contracts

Most of our pet puppies are sold on a spay/neuter contract and limited AKC registration to approved homes. This helps to ensure that our puppies will not end up in a puppy mill situation. We also include a "right of first refusal" clause in our contract which means, should the buyer ever be unable to keep a Lakeshore Golden for any reason, we retain first refusal on taking the dog back and if we can’t take puppy back, we will do everything in our power to assist you in finding a loving home. This helps to ensure that our dogs will never end up in a shelter or rescue situation.

Our show puppies are sold on full registration to approved homes only and references may be required. We still retain first refusal should the buyer be unable to keep the dog for any reason. References may be required for all prospective puppy buyers and we will want to see your completed questionnaire first. We do NOT ship, we must meet all prospective buyers and you must take the puppy home personally.

The casual breeding practices of backyard breeders and puppy mills have contributed to some of the hereditary problems that trouble some of today's Golden Retrievers. Cataracts, hip dysplasia, thyroid problems, allergies, SAS (subvalvular aortic stenosis) and epilepsy rank high on the Golden's list of genetic problems. However, the golden is not alone in carrying genetic diseases. Conscientious breeders and dedicated veterinary researchers are using the tools available to them to minimize and perhaps someday eliminate the most persistent of serious inherited diseases. Therefore, it is our practice to do what we can to reduce genetic diseases in goldens. Annie’s hips and elbows are cleared with OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of Animals), as is her heart for SAS and thyroid, and her eyes have passed a CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation) exam as well. I also did a careful and thorough research into Annie’s and Nikka’s ancestors. Copies of all clearances are available on request, but can also be viewed on their k9data pages. Any stud used for Annie will also have all clearances verified before any breeding would take place.

Part of my responsibilities as a breeder is to ensure my puppies a loving, caring home where they are part of a family. I will provide you with a healthy, happy puppy who will give you years of love and companionship. I will provide a contract with a hip and temperament guarantee. I will be available for questions and support throughout your dog’s life. Your puppy will be vet checked and have his first set of shots and dew claws removed.

If we have a puppy that meets your requirements and we feel that you will make a good home for a puppy, we will expect a $200.00 dollar deposit (if there is no pup available for you, we will refund the deposit; otherwise it will be used toward your purchase price). We encourage your calls and visits during their seven weeks with us to check the progress of the litter as well as to play with the puppies.
